McKays @ Mesa Farms

Husband and wife team Peter & Tessa McKay along with their two children Kendra and Luke farm a 220 ha property nestled in the warm Maraekakaho valley in Hawkes Bay.

Our history has been involved in horticulture and viticulture until 2001 when we bought our farm. We lamb from late May through June. This country is ideally suited for fat lamb farming being warmer country. Our farm consists of approximately 1800 - 2000 ewes, 350 alpacas for fibre and meat and 120 hand reared heifers. We also run a mini mill processing and spinning alpaca fibre for customers around New Zealand.

Surrounded by vineyards and lovely beaches along with the farming makes for a fantastic lifestyle and has been perfect for bringing up our children.
