Sorensens @ Marua Farm

The Sorensen’s have been farming at Mangatahi, near Maraekakaho, since 1917.

Third generation, Paul and his wife Julanne are passionate farmers and excited about the ‘Coastal Spring Lamb’ venture. They see great potential for their succulent early spring lamb.

Eldest son Stuart is currently establishing himself on the farm. He has a Diploma in Agriculture and a Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Natural Resource Management. Stuart worked in the meat industry as an environmental consultant before returning to the family farm.  Stuart’s wife Belinda has a long association with horses and a keen interest in farming - particularly animal husbandry. Her passion for quality food currently sees her working in the technical department of a processing industry in Hastings.

Younger son Jay and wife Amy live off-farm, both extensively involved in the agricultural industry including the Marua farming operation. Jay has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree with a double major in Agribusiness and Rural Valuation and Management; he is a registered Rural Valuer with Logan Stone in Hastings. Amy too works in the agricultural sector and has a Bachelor of Applied Science. She’s also certified in Sustainable Nutrient Management.  These off-farm skills and knowledge enhance the overall management of the property.
